Santa Fe Junction Apartments is located in the historic Shepard Hotel in downtown Burlingame. Built in 1906, the building now houses newly renovated efficiency, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. The units have a sophisticated look with berber carpet, leather-look linoleum, and Rio-roman shades. Laundry facilities are adjacent to the apartments and a deli/cafe is conveniently located on the corner of the old hotel.

The Shepard Guesthouse Suites has two suites -- a two-bedroom loft and a studio suite -- available for overnight or long-term stays.
Two-bedroom loft suite has an open sleeping loft encircled with wrought-iron railing that overlooks the great room. This space hosts a king-size bed and plenty of clothes storage including antique armoire and chest of drawers. The smaller bedroom on the main floor has a twin bed with writing desk. The great room has a sitting area with antique couch, dining room table with chairs, buffet and TV. The kitchen is equipped with full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster and coffee pot. The bathroom has a full-size tub with shower, towels and a hair dryer.
Prices: $75 daily, $295 weekly, $495 monthly

Studio Suite has a queen-size bed, antique dresser and TV. A cozy chair with throw is perfect for curling up to read as you peer out the window onto the historic brick streets or gaze upward t the original tin tiles.
Kitchen facilities include dining table and breakfast bar with stools, stove, microwave, small refrigerator, toaster and coffee pot. The bathroom is equipped with a shower, towels and hair dryer.

Townsite Apartments is a USDA Rural Development funded-project for seniors and disabled persons. The project was built in three phases from the early 1970's through the mid 1980's and encompasses a total of seven buildings, with 50 units, on-site laundry facilities and a Community Building. The project started undergoing major rehabilitation in 2009 and this process is ongoing. They have received over $260,000 from Kansas Housing Resource Corporation for weatherization efforts which included new windows, exterior doors, heating units, water heaters and refrigerators. The next phase of rehab has been made possible through a $450,000 grant from the FHLBank of Topeka Affordable Housing Program. This money will be used to provide bathroom updates including accessible shower stalls. It will also be used to address drainage issues on the property and replace sidewalks. Bids are being taken currently on this phase of the rehab. An application for additional funding is being made to KHRC through the HOME Program to continue improvements including updates on the apartment interiors.
