Enter the Crossroads Canteen -- not your typical “diner, dive or drive-in.” Established as the Burlingame Bank in the early 1900s by town builder H.D. Shepard, the limestone doorheader still bears this brand and the old vault now serves as a pantry. The walls of the Canteen are awash in soothing turquoise blue between the richness of the cherry-wood floors and the metallic bronze tin ceiling tiles that date back over 100 years. Beautiful tiffany lights provide a warm and inviting ambiance to this unique eating establishment.
You may hand-pick from homemade sandwiches or fresh salads displayed in old-fashioned deli cases or choose the smokin hot barbeque or daily hot-plate special. Then top if off with our sinful homemade pies and cakes or a scoop of ice cream. Meals are served from antique amber sandwich glass or aqua Fostoria glass plates and bowls. And drinks as well come in an assortment of unique and antique glasses. Don't miss the eclectic collection of artwork which includes etchings, photographs, antique prints and a cast paper sculpture by renowned artists.
Crossroads Canteen also serves a Friday night buffet from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and a Sunday lunch buffet from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm weekly in the historic Harvest Ballroom adjacent to the Canteen. Homestyle menus include fried chicken, catfish, ribs and pulled pork. For more info on our buffets, see info on the Harvest Ballroom. Reservations requested.
